Coughs can be really annoying. Unless you have a bad cough that
leaves you breathless, and unless you have a bad cold that keeps
you in bed all day, a cough is not a good enough excuse to bunk
either classes or work. And then you feel miserable throughout the
day as you throat gets all tickly at the worst of moments. What do
you do? Here are cough remedies for you.
Cough Remedies: Ginger

Ginger - Cough Remedies |
If you ask me, nothing takes better care of a troubled throat than
some ginger. Add some ginger to your tea and drink it hot and
there will definitely be a temporary relief to that tickly throat
of yours. Ginger is one of the best cough remedies ever. Add it to
some lime juice and you will have a great tonic for that cough
that is threatening to bother you all night.
Cough Remedies: Fluids
Keep your body hydrated when you have a cough or a cold. Drink
lots of water. Plain water tastes best when you have a cold. You
could also try juices rich in Vitamin C, light soups, and teas.
Avoid diuretics like caffeine and alcohol. These serve only to
dehydrate the body. Find a substitute for your caffeine and
alcohol based drinks at least till your cough goes away.
Cough Remedies: Salt Water Gargle
Nothing works better on a sore throat than a salt water gargle.
Add some salt to a glass of warm to hot water and gargle with it.
Among the many cough remedies that are suggested to us, this has
to be one of the oldest. And it is one of the most effective
against sore throats.
Cough Remedies: Diet

Cough Remedies - Diet |
Grapes and raisins are filled with Vitamin C and are very
effective against coughs. Add them to your cold and cough diet and
you will start feeling better within a few days.
An all-fruit diet could also be helpful with respect to a cough.
If an all-fruit diet does not appear to be one of your favorite
cough remedies, just add some more fruits to your diet. Help
yourself to apples, oranges, grapes, and melons.
Cough Remedies: What to Avoid
I am sure that you do not need me to tell you to avoid smoking.
Smoking only aggravates the throat by injuring a respiratory
tract. So do yourself a favor and cut down on the number of
cigarettes that you smoke. You will feel considerable relief from
that cough.
And cover your mouth while coughing, and encourage others to do so
too. It is a simple thing to do, and one that we are being told
right from childhood. Yet we insist on sending our germs towards
other potential victims without even offering an obstacle.
