Dandruff Remedies
Dandruff, in today's world is seen as a disease rather than a
natural process that it is. This is because of the advertisements
and marketing strategies used by various shampoo and hair oil
manufacturers. Every human being in his life gets little dandruff
at some stage. Dandruff is nothing but shedding of old cells which
are replaced by new ones. When this shedding of old cells is
faster than the normal, you start noticing it as small white
flakes in your head or on your shoulders.
The main causes of dandruff are impairment of general health,
development of a toxic condition mainly due to taking of wrong
foods, constipation, and a low vitality due to infectious
diseases. Other factors contributing to this disorder are
emotional tension, harsh shampoos, exposure to cold and general
exhaustion.
Dandruff tends to be more common in men than in women because of
male hormone testosterone which plays a major role in oil
production. It is not possible to get rid of dandruff entirely but
there are various home remedies which you can perform to keep them
to a minimum.
Treating Dandruff with Fenugreek Seeds
The most important home remedy for treating dandruff is to
use fenugreek seeds. Grind two tablespoon of fenugreek seeds which
are soaked overnight in water. Grind it to make a fine paste.
Apply this paste to your scalp and keep it for half an hour. Then
wash your hair thoroughly with ritha or shikakai.
Lime Juice for Dandruff Treatment
Use lime juice to wash your hair. Take a
teaspoon of lime juice and use it during last rinse while washing
the hair. Lime juice removes stickiness and helps in dandruff
prevention.
Try An Oil Treatment for Dandruff
Dandruff in your hair clearly suggests
how dry your skin is! Dry skin produces more flakes than moist
skin. So it is necessary to lubricate your skin. Apply olive oil
to your scalp and leave it there for half an hour before having
bath. The oil helps in keeping the scalp moist and loosens the dry
scales which are ready to flake off.
Other Home Remedies for Dandruff
Green gram powder should be applied twice
a week. Mix two tablespoons of green gram powder with half cup of
curd and wash your hair with this mixture.
Beets are very useful for curing dandruff. Boil the roots and tops
of beet in water. Massage this water in to the scalp every night.
Rubbing snake gourd juice over your scalp is also considered to be
beneficial in treating and minimizing dandruff.
Another home remedy for treating dandruff is to massage the scalp
with curd. Use curd which is kept in open for three days.
I have also heard that wearing a cap can minimize dandruff. Winter
aggravates dandruff. So wearing a cap during winter helps keep the
scalp moist and prevents some of the flaking.
To conclude, dandruff is not completely curable. It reappears, but
can be minimized. Wash your hair often to keep the hair and scalp
clean. Do not allow dead cells to accumulate. Brush your hair
daily to improve circulation and remove flakiness. Last but not
the least, exposure of head to rays of the sun is also a useful
home remedy in treating dandruff.
